Tukaani pkgtools can be used on

• Tukaani Linux
• Slackware Linux 10.0 and later
• Slamd64 Linux 10.2 and later (if someone makes a package ;-)
• Zenwalk
• VectorLinux
• Base Linux
• your own custom GNU/*/Linux distribution e.g. Linux From Scratch

The package contains 'dialog' compiled with wide character support and with a tiny patch to make combination of --help-button and --item-help switches useable with pkgtool. The pkgtools package includes also 'tar-1.13-pkgtools' binary compiled with a patch that adds --no-overwrite-dir option familiar from newer GNU tar versions.

Installing

Read this carefully before installing! It is easy to break your installation if you don't follow the instructions!

Tukaani pkgtools packages no longer include terminfo files from the ncurses package. Make sure that you have the ncurses package installed before upgrading to pkgtools tukaani_1.2.x. Without terminfo files many applications will break, including most non-graphical text editors.

Install the new pkgtools using upgradepkg. Do not use installpkg. Do not upgrade or install any other packages at the same time.
